Sam Koopmans - Lead Pastor

Sam became a Christian at the age of six after countless discussions with his parents about Jesus and the grace He provides. Growing up in a pastor’s family, Sam was highly involved in church activities, eventually recognizing his calling to enter vocational ministry in 2011 when he joined the Harbor staff as the Pastor of Worship. Over the past ten years he has served in a variety of roles within the church and currently enjoys his position as the Executive Pastor as it allows him to participate in so many ministries with the wonderful people who care so deeply for one another and pursue Christ together. Sam loves to build relationships with people and has a passion for learning about God and his Word within the beauty of community.

Sam was set up on a blind date in college with a mysterious and beautiful girl from the registrar’s office named Kara. As it turns out, his friends proved to be quite the match-makers. Sam and Kara were married in 2008 and have two children: a son, Asher (born 2011), and a daughter, Judah (born 2013). The Koopmans family affectionally refer to Harbor Church as “home.”

Sam holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Simpson University (2006), a Master’s degree from A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary (2018), and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry degree at Western Seminary.

Glen Brooks - Pastor

Glen felt called by God in 2000 to start Harbor Church. Over the years he has experienced cheers, tears, and jeers, and through it all God remains faithful to his call. The joy Glen feels by serving God at Harbor is a great example of what it means to be squarely in God’s will.

Glen began his ministry serving as a youth pastor at two different churches in Arizona. He then served as the executive pastor at a church in Arizona and another in California. Each of these positions, coupled with the experiences that resulted, have helped to develop his passion and vision for Harbor Church.

Glen began his college career as an electrical engineering major at the University of Utah. During his junior year, he recognized that he was being called by God to enter full-time ministry. Three years later, Glen graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. Upon graduating from the University of Utah, Glen headed to Colorado where he received a Master’s Degree from Denver Seminary.

Glen and his wife, Pamela, have been married for over 30 years. They have three adult children: two terrific daughters (and 2 awesome sons-in-law), a fantastic son (and a wonderful daughter-in-law), and 5 delightful grandchildren. Glen has been involved in sports since before he can remember, but has recently realized the advantages (necessity) of low impact exercise. Glen now considers himself a “cyclist,” and enjoys doing long rides on his road bike.

He has started a cycling group at Harbor that has provided a great combination of exercise and relationship building. Glen is also a diehard Chicago Bears fan!

Noah Boerstra - Director of Youth Ministries

Noah was born and raised in the Netherlands up until 2008 when he moved to the United States at 10 years old. It was in 6th grade when he was introduced to Wayk and has been attending Harbor Church ever since. Noah gave his life to Christ when he was 12 at a summer camp with Wayk, and it changed his life.

After Noah graduated high school, he volunteered with Wayk for two years as he pursued a career in firefighting at Sierra College. Two years in however, Noah felt a calling to pursue ministry instead. He has since been enrolled at William Jessup University where he is currently pursuing a degree in Christian Leadership. After graduating, Noah hopes to attend a seminary where he can continue his education and become an ordained minister.

He is passionate for youth ministry (Wayk particularly) because it was through this very program that he was introduced to Christ. Noah hopes to provide the same opportunity for future students and show them what it means to live a Christ-centered life.

Rosie Clauer - Director of Harbor Kids

Rosie grew up in Southern California and became a Christian at the age of 7 in her Sunday School class at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa. Though her family did not attend church through most of her childhood, Rosie knew Jesus to be her Savior.  As SoCal young adult, Rosie worked at Disneyland as a Tour Guide and attended California State University Fullerton. After college, Rosie worked as a commercial property manager for Hope International University, where she was introduced to Tom Clauer.

When Tom and Rosie moved to Folsom in January 2000, Rosie became a stay at home - a title she cherished for 14 years. Through that time, God prepared Rosie for what she didn’t even know was her dream job – Kids Ministry Director! As a community volunteer with Girl Scouts, PTA, Junior League and Sunday School teacher, God developed a skill set in Rosie to complement the passion He created in her soul to love kids and share the Gospel. Over the last eight years, Rosie has served as a Kids Ministry Director. It is a privilege to partner with families to teach children the character of God.

Tom and Rosie have raised two amazing kids (Katie and Sam) in Folsom, and honestly, Rosie is not necessarily excited about the “empty nest” that her home will be someday soon...yet another reason she is so excited to love YOUR kids! In her free time, Rosie is an avid runner, crafter and bookworm.

Greg Dunn - Director of Safe Harbor

Greg has been sober since December 26, 2003. He was saved by the grace of a loving God and influenced by Alcoholics Anonymous. Greg started his journey at River City Recovery and then moved into Clean and Sober Living in Fair Oaks where he met his first sponsor who had something that he wanted and who would eventually lead him to Christ.

Greg was baptized in 2004. Before that, he knew of Christ but had never developed a true relationship with him.

Greg continued to grow in his relationship with Christ, but things came to a halt when he took custody of his two children, Chelsea and Justin. He dedicated his life to raising them and moved to Elk Grove. After his youngest child went off to college, Greg decided to move back to this area where he got his recovery roots.

His sponsor suggested that he try a Safe Harbor meeting at Harbor church.

Greg met a loving, amazing family there and knew he had found the missing piece to his sobriety. Greg has been at Harbor since 2014 and the Director of Safe Harbor since 2016.
